Forging a team for HEALth in Central!

While the Food Policy Coalition aims to operate within a broader regional realm, a focus on healthy eating policies and programs in Cleveland’s Central neighborhood has been undertaken by the FPC. HEAL (Healthy Eating/Active Living), an initiative developed by The Sisters of Charity Foundation, aims to promote equitable and adequate access to fresh, healthy food for Central residents, encourage better eating behaviors, and increase physical activity outlets in order to stifle the upsurge of preventable diseases that affect residents in the community and diminish quality of life.... Read more »

Ohio EPA Proposes Changes to the Regulations for Food Waste Composting

From the Ohio EPA:

During the last year, Ohio EPA released draft revisions to the composting rules and received comments from a diverse group of stakeholders.  Ohio EPA believes the comments received helped improve the rules in a manner that is protective of the environment while making easier for citizens to compost and for new composting businesses to get started. Other changes should provide existing facilities with increased flexibility for achieving compliance and innovate with alternative materials.... Read more »

Regional Leaders Get Together to Talk Food Policy in Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Food Policy Council is hosting a Food Policy Council Symposium to gather regional food policy council and community members for a day of peer learning.  The event will take place on Thursday December 8 from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium.  The Symposium is themed “Working Together to Strengthen Our Food Systems.”... Read more »
