Please join the Food Policy Coalition and the City of Cleveland Office of Sustainability for our second quarterly forum of 2012. This event on the Federal Farm Bill will be the kick-off  to a series of local food events leading up to the Sustainable Cleveland 2019 Summit on Septemeber 20th and 21st. This year's summit has a specific focus on local foods and we couldn't be happier to help build up some more momentum and heighten anticpation!

The FPC seeks to engage an audience of producers and residents, both urban and rural, on the many provisions in this piece of federal legislation  greatly impacting our food system. Farm Bill provisions for 2012 include changes to funding for school nutrition and food programs, food assistance benefits, conservation measures, and equipping urban environments, as well as rural, with the capital and technology necessary to develop farm enterprises and extend them throughout the growing season. Four panelists representing different arenas with stake in this policy will talk about their involvement with the Farm Bill and take questions from forum participants.

Panel particpants:

-Joe Logan, Ohio Farmer's Union

-Ariella Brown, Congresswoman Marcia Fudge's Office

-Laura Englehart, Senator Sherrod Brown's Office

-Mary O'Shea, The Cleveland Foodbank

The evening event, titled, "A Food and Farm Bill for 2012: The legislation that impacts our cities, diets, and farm land" is free and open to the public. Any and all are welcome. No RSVP required.
