Regional Leaders Get Together to Talk Food Policy in Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Food Policy Council is hosting a Food Policy Council Symposium to gather regional food policy council and community members for a day of peer learning.  The event will take place on Thursday December 8 from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium.  The Symposium is themed “Working Together to Strengthen Our Food Systems.”

At the event, leaders of existing food policy councils will share their experiences, successes and goals for the future.  Among the speakers, Morgan Taggart will speak about the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Food Policy Coalition.  She is joined by Michelle German and Grace Yogaretnam from the Toronto Food Policy Council and Kim Davidson and Gretchen Natter from the Adams County Food Policy Council. The event also includes networking as well as a panel discussion and breakout discussion groups.

“This is a great chance for those already involved with food policy councils to learn from their peers as well as an exciting opportunity for those wanting to learn more about the unique challenges and solutions our region offers in regards to food policy,” said Heather Mikulas, the Chair of the Pittsburgh Food Policy Council.  “I invite all to come and learn, share, and strengthen our regional food system together.”
