Program Coordinator, Community Development
Ohio State University Extension, Cuyahoga County
SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Provides project assistance to the OSU Extension office in Cuyahoga county with regards to the development and implementation of the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Food Policy Coalition (FPC); works collaboratively with initiatives and policies that strengthen the local food economy and increase access to healthy food. Position Responsibilities 50%: Provides administrative and general program support to the Food Policy Coalition and affiliated working groups; prepares agendas, attends meetings, records minutes, and shares updates through email and website; assists with the research and writing of policy briefs related to food system development and healthy food access; assists in identifying and organizing community forums and events to educate Coalition members and the general public about local food. 30%: Facilitates community meetings in conjunction with other staff and Coalition members; assists in carrying out small research projects and community assessments. 10%: Maintains records and databases, submits information needed for reports, documents progress against anticipated outcomes, and creates print media. Contributes material related to the Food Policy Coalition website. 10%: Represents OSU Extension and the Food Policy Coalition by attending meetings and maintaining communication with program staff and community members. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and experience in community development, public policy, or related field; excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills; ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, agencies and/or individuals in different settings; computer proficiency in word processing, internet, and e-mail. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in conducting community outreach in an urban setting, and knowledge of community’s infrastructure and culture; previous teaching experience.
