FPC Conducting Farmers’ Market Surveys with Vendors

As autumn swiftly carries us away from summer, farmers’ markets are beginning to wrap up another bountiful season. With many farmers’ markets ending within the next couple of weeks, the Food Policy Coalition thought this would be the perfect time to gauge the opinions of vendors about the Produce Perks Program. Produce Perks offers customers using an Ohio Direction Card with their food assistance benefits to receive ten extra bonus market dollars to spend on market produce. In order to get the scoop on how the program was working for market vendors, and how they felt the program impacted their businesses, members of the FPC staff have been visiting farmers’ markets to conduct surveys with all produce vendors. The FPC hopes to find out how the program is impacting market vendors, and potential ways to improve the program for the next market season. Surveying will conclude at the end of September, at which point the FPC will begin to analyze the results. Be on the lookout for analysis updates about vendor perceptions and business decisions surrounding Produce Perks.
