Call for Co-Chair Nominations for the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Food Policy Coalition

Nominations Due: November 28, 2016 (midnight)

What is the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Food Policy Coalition?

The Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Food Policy Coalition (FPC) was founded in 2007 by Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Department of Public Health, New Agrarian Center, and Ohio State University Extension (OSUE), as a collaboration of a diverse group of public and private partners and organizations. Since then, the FPC has achieved numerous successes related to local policies that support urban agriculture zoning, start-up capital for farm producers, local food procurement, healthy vending and food guidelines, and SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program formerly known as food stamps) access at farmers’ markets and farm stands.

Building on these accomplishments and working in partnership with other stakeholders, moving forward the FPC seeks to convene individuals and organizations to innovate and advocate for a healthy, just, and resilient local food system. To this end, the FPC will focus on the following tasks over the next two years (2017-19):

 Convening all FPC members and community stakeholders four times per year.

 Creating and supporting ad hoc working groups to address pressing policy or programmatic needs.

 Advocating for local, regional, and national food policies.

What is the leadership of the FPC?

The FPC will be led by a Steering Committee headed by two co-chairs that will be elected in December 2016. We are currently accepting nominations for co-chairs who will volunteer to serve a two-year term. The co-chairs will coordinate quarterly FPC meetings and bi-monthly FPC steering committee meetings, assist with the formation of ad hoc working groups, and seek additional resources to sustain the work of the FPC. Please submit your Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Food Policy Coalition Co-Chair Nomination Form by Monday, November 28, 2016 at midnight.
